The Northland Center for Advanced Professional Studies (Northland CAPS) is a program designed to immerse high school students in the world of work.  Students who are accepted into one of the strands that most closely represents their career cluster will experience a professional work environment.  Northland CAPS students will work in teams, completing real-life projects brought to them by clients.  Northland CAPS students will have business and community mentors who will guide them through their projects.

Northland CAPS has five Strands for the 2015-2016 academic year, one more than is currently offered.  Each year, programs are reviewed and added or continued based on local economic needs.  Strands that are offered are based on local business feedback and specific areas of need.  In other words, these are careers that are hiring and expanding in the Kansas City Metro Area!  The following Strands are offered in Northland CAPS:

Engineering & Advanced Manufacturing                        Global Business & Entrepreneurship
Medicine & Healthcare                                                    Technology Solutions (2014-2015)
                                                Global Logistics & Transportation (2015-2016)
Technology Solutions - Video, Photography, Digital Media (2015-2016
This General Information Flyer will provide you with a brief description of each 2015-2016 Strand.

Students who participate in Northland CAPS will transition from classroom to internship.  In fact, your second semester may be a complete work-based internship!
